I even spent a week hiking with him on
Corsica. In between high-school exams and university, I was
the only one who had time. We had planned to do the whole
GR20-hiking-trail, but had to cut it short in the end
because he got a place at university to study medicine and
needed to go back to Munich for enrolment.
A year later, however, he switched to Lufthansa after all,
to train as a pilot.Later he had an accident hiking in the
mountains. He was secured to a rope, but apparently fell so
awkwardly that he was killed.
His wife was pregnant at that time without knowing it yet.
